Should the state reconsider adding a bus system to Tappan Zee plan?

The new price tag revealed for the Tappan Zee replacement is much lower than the state’s initial estimate of $5.2 billion, leading mass transit advocates to argue the state has the money to add a bus system.
The three bids all put design and construction costs between $3.1 billion and $4 billion, but when additional expenses are factored in, those prices range from $3.9 billion to $4.8 billion.
Mass transit advocates say because of this, the state should reconsider its decision not to include a bus-rapid transit system in the plan. What do you think? Take our poll below. Vote for your favorite proposed design at LoHud.com’s Opinion Exchange. [1]
