(Motorists encounter a flooded portion of the Saw Mill River Parkway, while driving southbound in Pleasantville May 21, 2012. Heavy rains also closed the southbound lanes of the Bronx River Parkway at exit 21 in White Plains. ( Joe Larese/The Journal News )
The downpours were so heavy during my drive up I-95 this morning that I considered pulling over!
My colleague Rebecca Baker reports on the evening rush:
“Heavy rains and thunderstorms were slowing drivers on the Saw Mill River Parkway just before tonight’s evening rush.
Flooding had closed the Saw Mill River Parkway in Mount Pleasant-Pleasantville, Westchester county police said. Northbound, traffic is being diverted off at the Taconic State Parkway and southbound at Manville Road in Pleasantville. (More traffic reports: Hudson Valley Traveler.)
Earlier today, the Bronx River Parkway was closed both ways between Main Street in White Plains and Butler Road in Scarsdale because of flooding.”
And not to mention a home in Scarsdale was struck by lightening! Luckily no one was injured and the damage was minor. Was your evening commute any better?
