Our readers had a lot to say about the federal government’s decision to pass over the Tappan Zee Bridge project for a $2 billion loan and Metro-North’s Quiet Car program.

Here are a few responses:
“The #TappanZee project isn’t dead yet. It’s too important to not move forward.”— Rich Murdocco, @TheFoggiestIdea, via Twitter
“On (NJ Transit’s) Pascack Valley line the quiet cars seem to be working. The most noise now seems to consistently come from the conductors themselves. A pair of them come walking into the quiet talking at full volume about some pointless adventure they were on recently. This happens too frequently!”— Kevin Wood, via Facebook.com
“Conductors don’t enforce. ‘They (noisemakers in the quiet car) paid their fare too,’ is the conductor’s response. So I don’t sit in the quiet car anymore. If I have no expectation of a quiet commute, I’m not as annoyed when it doesn’t happen.”— Kathie Odonnell, via LoHud.com
