My esteemed colleague, Cathey O’Donnell, sent me some fun facts on commuting times:
25.3 minutes
Estimated average time for workers 16 years and older across the country spent getting to work in 2010, up from 25.1 minutes in 2009.
31.8 minutes
Estimated average time for workers 16 years and older in Maryland spent getting to work in 2010, the longest commute time in the nation.
16.1 minutes
Estimated average time workers 16 years and older in North Dakota spent getting to work in 2010, the shortest commute time in the nation.
And after a little digging, I found the average times for LoHud:
Westchester: 31.9 minutes
Rockland: 29.8
Putnam: 37.8

How long is your commute with and without traffic?

I agree with the commuter from your other question except I am coming from White plains going to Stamford and with the recent addition of construction on 95 it is becoming unbearable at times. My commute is anywhere between 30-40 mins to go 16 miles thats with normal to moderate traffics. With all the traffic and trucks its enough but add an accident and your looking at over an hour and half to go 16 miles!!! My job just moved to Stamford in december so its been about 4 months. I’m contemplating just taking the train from Rye at this point esp now that gas is 4.45 a gallon for me.
